In January-June 2024, 9.3 million tons of cargo and 3,849.8 thousand passengers were carried by rail transport in Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports citing State Statistics Committee.
Compared to the same period in 2023, increase of a 1.4% increase in cargo transportation and increase of 19.2% in passenger transportation were observed.
According to the Committee, during the reporting period, an average of 373 wagons were loaded and 426 wagons were unloaded per day.
"During the day, 17.3 thousand tons of cargo were loaded in the northern direction, 3.9 thousand tons in the western direction, and 0.7 thousand tons in the southern direction," the Committee stated.
