In Azerbaijan, the volume of freight transported by sea in January-February 2025 amounted to 1,463.8 thousand tons, marking a 14.9% increase compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, APA-Economics reports citing the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee.
According to the information, 47.5% of the freight transported during the reporting period consisted of oil.
"Seaport terminals carried out loading and unloading operations with a total volume of 2,369.6 thousand tons, and 1,856.9 thousand tons, or 78.4%, of the freight were transit cargoes. As of March 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining at the ports was 143.5 thousand tons," the report notes.
It was also mentioned that during the period, the number of passengers transported by this type of transport increased by 5% compared to the corresponding period in 2024, reaching 4.2 thousand people.
