"This year, freight traffic on the Middle Corridor has increased compared to last year," the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov told journalists, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that last week, a joint trilateral meeting of the heads of the Kazakh, Georgian and Azerbaijani railways was held in Georgia:
"At the meeting, we discussed the steps to be taken for the development of this corridor. In particular, decisions in principle were made to activate the joint venture established last year, the operational and financial model of the joint venture has already been presented, and decisions have been made in this direction next year, especially regarding cargo from China. More than 300 block trains have departed from China. Today, the 306th block train departed. Next year, this figure is planned to be increased three times from China, reaching 1,000 block trains."
