Today, Taleh Ziyadov, Director-General of Baku International Sea Trade Port, Nurlan Sauranbayev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways, and Yuan Xiaojun, General Director of Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co Ltd, signed an agreement on the establishment of a new enterprise dedicated to the construction of an Intermodal Cargo Terminal at the port, APA reports.
The signing ceremony, which took place within the framework of the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) held in Azerbaijan, was also attended by Ruslan Alihanov, CEO of the Azerbaijan Investment Holding, and Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna Fund.
The primary aim of the agreement is to enhance and expand cargo transportation capacity at the Baku Port, located in the Alat settlement, through the construction of a new Intermodal Cargo Terminal for the first time. The project involves the creation and development of the terminal's infrastructure on a 40-hectare area within the Baku Port, located in the Alat settlement.
