Close cooperation is being carried out with the Islamic Republic of Iran for the development of the "North-South" corridor, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev, said at the 83rd meeting of the Railway Transport Council of the CIS member states, APA- Economics reports.

R. Nabiyev noted that earlier this year, a strategic cooperation plan was signed between "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC and Iranian Railways on the implementation of the contract on the construction and operation of the Astara terminal. The document envisages expanding cooperation to realize the potential of the "North-South" corridor.

"Work on the construction of the Astara terminal located in Iran has made significant progress, and this facility has been transferred to the Azerbaijani side for long-term use for 25 years. We plan to complete the construction of the terminal by the end of 2026," the minister added.
