19,000 containers transported in 5 years via China-Europe railway on Trans-Caspian route

"Five years have passed since the launch of the China (Jieszyan) – Europe railway express line under the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Regular shipments have been carried out along the route during this period," this was stated at an event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the China (Jieszyan) – Europe Railway Express route under the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and the welcoming of the Yiwu (China) – Baku (Azerbaijan) train at the Absheron Logistics Center, APA-Economics reports.

It was reported that a total of 51 directions have operated within the framework of the route, and 4,182 containers (TEU) have been transported. Seventeen percent of the cargo sent via the Southern routes accounted for this line.

Over the past 5 years, a total of 237 trains have operated on the route, and the number of transported containers amounted to 19,470 TEU.

The volume of shipments was mainly distributed among Central Asia, Europe, and Azerbaijan. Cargo turnover amounted to 4.76 billion yuan for the Central Asia region, 1.76 billion yuan for the European region, and 2.02 billion yuan (approximately 202 million AZN) for Azerbaijan.

Mainly, daily consumer goods, industrial products, chemical industry products, equipment, and automobile parts were transported.
