"The successful organization of such a large and prestigious event as COP29 in a short period of time is commendable, said the Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, APA reports.

"The main expectations are particularly focused on the environment and financing. One of the events within COP29 will discuss Azerbaijan’s initiative on assessing climate literacy. The evaluation of environmental literacy in the 2029 PISA international assessment will accompany the participation of various countries in this initiative. At the same time, a major event related to the sustainable development of universities is ahead of us. After the COP29 events, it is likely that our work on green education and environmental changes in schools and universities will accelerate. Because if environmental literacy is assessed in PISA 2029, many countries will already measure the outcomes of their efforts. There are ongoing discussions here, but there is still no evidence based on measurements. We believe that Azerbaijan's initiative will be supported, and more work on green education will be done in Azerbaijan and other countries in the coming years. The development of green specialties and green skills is one of our priority directions. Green skills should be understood as the formation of competencies within all professions to prevent climate change and environmental pollution. I believe that our direction should be not only new specialties but also the inclusion of this green component in the content of existing specialties," he added.
