"There have been discussions about Azerbaijan hosting the COP29 conference since the beginning of the year. I think that Azerbaijan will successfully host this climate agenda," Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev said at the first press conference of the Board of the 29th session (COP29) of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change while commenting on the conflicting opinions regarding COP29, APA reports.
He noted that today, the green growth programs that Azerbaijan targets and the implemented projects show that as a country and a society, we have quite the experience in this regard.
"Azerbaijan will be able to be an example for the region and other oil-gas countries. Because the COP29 event will be a good opportunity for us to share with other countries our experiences of programs adopted in Azerbaijan, the creation of up to 30% alternative energy sources targeted by 2030, the implementation of programs related to green growth, etc." he noted.
