“We must also prevent the increase of food loss and waste. This will allow us to both save money and contribute to the environment,” Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Inger Andersen said at an international event dedicated to World Environment Day (WED) hosted by Azerbaijan, APA reports.

She stated that tens of millions of dollars are being spent to prevent damage to the environment: “We feel happy when we are in nature. Abandoning traditional energy and transitioning to green energy is our responsibility. We must be prepared for natural disasters. We must achieve zero emissions and zero temperature increase. Everyone must fight the climate crisis. Our planet is not only giving us signals, but also sending us a message that we are approaching its end. Due to the climate issue, thousands of people are making their voices heard today.”

She highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s contributions in this field.
