In a statement on his social media account, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said rescue operations are continuing following Russia's missile attack on the Kyiv region, APA reports.
According to Zelenskyy, preliminary information indicates that dozens of people were injured and six were killed in the attack.
"Work is ongoing to establish all the details of the incident and the fate of the victims. All necessary emergency services are at the scene. Five people were also killed and nine injured in strikes carried out with guided aerial bombs on the city of Sloviansk. Residential buildings, a consular building and vehicles were damaged during the attacks," he said.
The Ukrainian president described the attacks as brutal assaults against civilians and stressed that Russia must be held accountable.
"Russia lost respect for international norms and human values a long time ago. Their only goal is to continue the killings," Zelenskyy said.
He also called on international partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
"Protecting people's lives also depends on the steps our partners take. Deliveries of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems are now the number one priority," he said.
