Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has described Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan as an emotional politician, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
At today’s briefing, an Armenian journalist asked the Russian MFA official to comment on Simonyan’s statement that “if Russia raises gas prices, Armenia will leave the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union.”
Zakharova said she does not want to comment on statements made by overly emotional politicians.
She recalled that Simonyan has made many ambiguous statements of this kind.
“Moreover, what haven’t we heard about the CSTO! In Armenia, they said that it is not Armenia leaving the CSTO, but the CSTO leaving Armenia. I don’t know whether this process has been completed or is still in a heated phase. Therefore, there is no point in returning to this issue. Why should we assess these emotional statements?!” the Russian MFA spokeswoman emphasized.
She noted that Armenian citizens should respond to this statement.
