Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that the ammunition containing depleted uranium that the Western countries have sent to Ukraine is making the latter's land "uninhabitable", APA reports citing Teletrader.
In an opinion piece written for Komsomolskaya Pravda, Zakharova stated that the "radiation contamination of the soil is already taking place and is being objectively recorded." She went on to explain that in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine, "a significant surge in background radiation was recorded," going from 80 nanosieverts to between 140 and 160 nanosieverts.
"Ukrainians must understand that the British are supplying real poison, a guarantee of cancerous tumors, and demand that depleted uranium shells be removed from the country as soon as possible," the spokeswoman concluded.
