The head of Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, a Ukrainian citizen of Azerbaijani origin, is suspected of embezzling around 2 billion hryvnias (nearly $73 million).

According to the lawyer, Nasirov is now in an intensive care unit, and he had a heart attack, APA reported citing RT.

Nasirov was detained as a suspect on the criminal case filed against Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksandr Onishchenko.

Onishchenko is charged with embezzlement of state property in large quantity. As a result, damage in the amount of $120.5m was caused to the state.

Though the Verkhovna Rada gave consent to his arrest, the deputy fled the country before a decision was passed. Onishchenko is also suspected of treason.
