The Russian-sponsored conference on reaching peace in Syria agreed to create constitutional committee which will work in Geneva, TASS news agency cited Russia’s Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov as saying on Tuesday, APA reports quoting TASS.

The committee will include those groups that were not attending the peace conference hold in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, Lavrov said.

"The Congress also decided to form a constitutional committee, which will include delegates elected today at the congress and which will additionally be delegated representatives of those groups that for various reasons did not attend today's congress," Lavrov told reporters.

According to him, "this result - the creation of a constitutional commission - is transferred to the UN in accordance with resolution 2254".

"The work of this new structure will be organized in Geneva - the constitutional committee for the preparation of the Syrian constitution," the minister added.

The Congress of the National Dialogue of Syria in Sochi officially opened on Tuesday, among more than 1.5 thousand participants - representatives of all political and ethno-confessional groups of Syria. The key task of the Congress is to launch work on a new constitution of Syria and form a constitutional commission.
