Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet announced his decision to participate in the 2018 presidential race, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.
“Putin has not announced his decision on this subject. Reports on alleged Putin’s nomination for presidency are nothing more than hypothetical discussions,” he noted.
Kommersant newspaper earlier reported with reference to a source at Russia’s Presidential Administration that Putin will announce his participation in the 2018 presidential race in November of this year, becoming a technically independent candidate in late December or early January. According to Kommersant, Putin’s nomination as presidential candidate will be spread over two stages.
