A gunman was killed in an armed clash with law enforcement officers in the Urvan district of Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria Region, North Caucasus, a law enforcement source told TASS on Friday, APA reports quoting TASS.
"One of the gunmen was killed in an armed clash near the settlement of Urvan," he said, adding that there were no losses among the law enforcement officers.
Earlier reports said that a counter-terrorism operation mode was imposed in part of the region’s Urvansky district at 18:10 Moscow time on December 15. Special measures and temporary restrictions will be in place in the region until further orders.
The settlement of Urvan is located 12 kilometers from the city of Nalchik, the capital city of Kabardino-Balkaria.
