An interim agreement has been reached following negotiations between the United States and Belarus, BELTA said, APA reports.
US President's Special Envoy John Coale announced the agreement.
“As a goodwill gesture, Belarus will release 25 prisoners. The United States, in turn, will lift sanctions against two Belarusian companies — Lakokraska and Bellesbumprom,” Coale said.
According to him, the parties will continue working to resolve the remaining issues.
“Once all issues have been resolved and agreed upon by both sides, there will be additional releases of individuals and the lifting of sanctions against Belarusian companies,” the US President's Special Envoy stated.
Coale described the negotiations held in Minsk as “very productive” and thanked the Belarusian side, particularly President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
