In Sochi, a U.S. citizen has been found guilty of illegally transporting firearms and ammunition on his yacht and has been sentenced to five years in prison, Noviy Den reported, citing the Krasnodar Krai court, APA reports.
According to the information, the U.S. citizen set out by yacht from the state of Carolina, traveled through a number of European countries, and entered the port of Sochi in June 2025. While undergoing border control, he concealed the fact that there was a firearm on the yacht.
During an inspection, firearms and ammunition were discovered on the yacht and confiscated.
By a decision of the Sochi Central District Court, the U.S. citizen was found guilty of illegally transporting firearms and ammunition and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony.
