Long-range drones of the SBU’s Alpha special operations center struck the Filanovsky oil platform, owned by Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft, APA reports, citing mezha.net.

This strike was the first time Ukrainian forces damaged Russian infrastructure related to oil production in the Caspian Sea.

At least four hits were recorded on the offshore platform. As a result of the attack, oil and gas production from more than 20 wells it serves stopped, the interlocutor noted.

According to him, this is Ukraine’s first strike against Russia’s oil-production infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.

The Filanovsky field is one of the largest discoveries in Russia’s sector of the Caspian Sea. Reserves are estimated at 129 million tonnes of oil and 30 billion cubic metres of gas. Production was exported through regional sea routes.

As a result of strikes by Ukrainian military drones, the operation of an oil production platform in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea has been halted, military sources told RBC-Ukraine, APA reports.

According to sources, long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine struck the Filanovsky oil platform belonging to Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

It is noted that this is the first strike by Ukraine against Russian oil production infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.

According to the information, at least four accurate strikes were recorded on the offshore platform. As a result of the attack, oil and gas production from more than 20 wells served by the platform was suspended.

It is reported that the Filanovsky field is one of the largest fields discovered in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. The produced product is exported abroad through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
