Since the start of the "special operation", the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost about 1 million personnel, said Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to him, since the start of the war, the Ukrainian army has lost about 1 million dead and wounded, as well as about 20 thousand tanks and armored vehicles.

Gerasimov announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost more than 42 thousand people, more than 1,800 tanks and armored vehicles in the Kursk border region.

He said that the advance of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region has been stopped, and attempts by groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and mercenaries to penetrate deep into Russia have been prevented.

Speaking about the innovations in the Russian army, the Chief of the General Staff noted that in 2024, 2 combined arms armies and army corps, 16 formations, as well as 2 military districts have been created in the Ground Forces.

According to him, the rearmament of the ground grouping of strategic nuclear forces has been fully completed, and all the tasks set by the country's leadership for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024 have been fulfilled.
