Ukraine's Defense Forces have announced that they carried out strikes on two oil refineries located in the Russian cities of Ufa and Samara, APA reports, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It was reported that on the night of September 21–22, units of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the Bashneft-UNPZ oil refinery located in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan. A fire reportedly broke out on the premises of the facility following the strike.
According to the information, the refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 7.5 million tons of oil per year. The facility produces gasoline, diesel and boiler fuel, liquefied gas, sulfur, and other petroleum products.
According to the Ukrainian side, the other facility targeted in the attack was the Kuibyshev oil refinery located in the city of Samara, Samara region. A fire was also reported on the premises of the facility.
It was noted that the Kuibyshev oil refinery is part of Rosneft and is one of the largest oil refining facilities in the Samara region. The refinery has an annual oil processing capacity of approximately 7 million tons. The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil and more than 30 other petroleum products.
