Ukrainian drones struck a major chemical plant in Russia’s Perm region overnight, APA reports citing the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The region’s governor, Dmitry Makhonin, confirmed the incident on his Telegram channel, stating that no local residents were injured.
According to the report, the target of the drones was the Metafrax Chemicals plant.
It is said that the facility serves Russia’s military-industrial complex and produces components for explosives and other military materials. Witnesses at the scene reported at least six explosions on the plant’s premises and said that workers were evacuated. Preliminary information suggests that the strike hit a methanol production unit.
The Metafrax Chemicals plant is located more than 1,600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border in the Perm region. It is one of the largest methanol producers in Russia and Europe.
