Two more oil tankers have reportedly come under drone attack near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal off Novorossiysk in the Black Sea, APA reports.
According to the CPC press service, the NIFFOS SIFNOS tanker, sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands and loading oil belonging to Tengizchevroil (Chevron), came under attack at the CPC's Single Point Mooring No. 3 (SPM-3) during the night of July 30.
The company said the drone strike caused a fire in the cargo deck area used for oil loading. The fire was extinguished by the vessel's crew with the assistance of three CPC support vessels.
According to the CPC, there were no fatalities or injuries among the company's employees or contractors. It also stated that no oil spill occurred, the tanker remained seaworthy, and the extent of the damage is being assessed.
The company said oil loading operations were suspended again following the incident. At the same time, it stressed that the other facilities of the pipeline system continue to operate normally.
The CPC also reported that the MARATHI tanker, sailing under the flag of the Isle of Man and approaching the terminal to load oil, came under a drone attack approximately six nautical miles from the marine terminal.
The statement did not identify the party responsible for the attacks, and no comment from other parties has yet been released.
