Two people have died as a result of a cable car collapse on Mount Elbrus, said the head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Kazbek Kokov, on his Telegram channel, APA reports.
"Two people have died as a result of an accident on a single-seat cable car on Mount Elbrus. Rescuers are working at the scene," Kokov noted.
According to preliminary information, the cause of the accident was the cable car slipping off a roller on one of the supports.
Rescuers are currently evacuating the bodies of the deceased. There is no information about other injuries.
Recall that recently, a 26-year-old Belarusian tourist lost his life on Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of 2,800 meters.
