In Saint Petersburg, a 23-year-old Russian woman was detained for preparing a terrorist act against an employee of a defense enterprise on the orders of Ukrainian special services, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing local media.
It was reported that in June 2024, she contacted a representative of the Ukrainian special services via the Telegram and WhatsApp messengers, stated her readiness to participate in sabotage and terrorist activities in exchange for assistance in leaving the Russian Federation and obtaining citizenship in one of the European Union countries.
Under the guidance of her curator, she wrote pro-Ukrainian slogans in public places in the Moscow region and attempted to set fire to a railway infrastructure facility. Later, in April of this year, she went to Saint Petersburg and conducted surveillance with the aim of blowing up the car of an employee of one of the defense enterprises there. When placing an improvised explosive device under the car, she was detained by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
During interrogation, the suspect stated that she was only instructed to follow the specified vehicle and place “some kind of device” under it.
A criminal case has been opened against the detained person under the article of attempted terrorist act, and an investigation is underway.
