Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has not ruled out the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin holding talks with US President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his swearing-in ceremony, APA reports citing TASS.

"It is not out of the question," the spokesman told reporters when asked about the matter. "He did say he would call Putin before the inauguration. These are his words; we have nothing else to add for now," he added.

The United States Presidential Inauguration will be held on January 20, 2025.

When responding to the question of whether high-level contacts between Russia and the United States could be resumed by conducting a meeting between Putin and Trump right away or if there should be a phone conversation first, the Kremlin spokesman clarified that such meetings do not happen instantly. The event must be thoroughly prepared at the expert level. "There is no work [towards it] so far. Besides, it is too early, who should we work with as of now?" he added.
