The number of injuries as a result of a gas explosion in a nine-story residential building in the city of Noginsk, located east of Moscow, climbed to 15, with two people in serious condition, the region’s Deputy Governor Yevgeny Khromushin said on Wednesday, APA reports citing TASS.
"As many as 15 people have been injured, two of them have been severely wounded, all [victims] are now in hospitals," the official noted.
Khromushin also confirmed two deaths. "At the moment, two bodies of victims have been found, five people have not got in touch, we do not know their status," the Moscow Region’s official mentioned.
Earlier, a source in the emergency services told TASS about 14 injuries as a result of the incident.

A gas explosion hit an apartment building in the city of Noginsk east of Moscow, causing a partial collapse, an emergency source said on Wednesday, APA reports citing TASS.
"A gas explosion occurred, causing a partial collapse in apartments on the second and third floors of the building," the source said.
Another source said rescuers started to search for survivors under the rubble. "Information about casualties is being verified, there could be people under the rubble," the source said.
Emergencies sources later told TASS four floors partially collapsed as a result of the blast.
According to a spokesperson for the Russian emergencies ministry, five apartments were damaged in the explosion. Three people - two of them children - have been rescued. The search effort continues.
The accident was presumably caused by a gas leak.
