The bodies of six people have been found in an apartment in the city of Balakovo in Russia’s Saratov region, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing local media.
Rescuers were forced to break down the door of an apartment on Akademika Zhuk Street after the homeowners failed to respond.
Six bodies were discovered in the apartment, including two children. Among the deceased were a 45-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, and two underage boys aged nine and four.
The preliminary cause of death is believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
A criminal case has been opened under the article of causing the death of two or more persons by negligence.
