Law enforcement authorities conducted a search at the home of Narek Karapetyan, an opposition MP who headed the electoral list of the Strong Armenia bloc, from early this morning, Novosti-Armenia news agency reports.
Armenia's Investigative Committee said the search was carried out as part of investigative actions within a criminal case.
Narek Karapetyan was elected to parliament from the Strong Armenia bloc. He is also the nephew of billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, the owner of Russia-based Tashir Group.
Earlier, a court imposed a travel ban on Narek Karapetyan and ordered 1 billion drams in bail.
He has been charged under the Armenian Criminal Code with coercing individuals to participate in lawful or unlawful assemblies through threats of violence, blackmail or material inducement, as well as with laundering criminal proceeds on an especially large scale.
