Russian businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, who was arrested by an Armenian court on charges of calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order, has announced his intention to create a political force, APA reports.
Karapetyan's press service, quoting his remarks, stated that, in principle, they are forming a new political force.
Note that on June 18, Samvel Karapetyan was detained by employees of the General Department for Combating Organized Crime of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and was arrested for two months on charges of openly calling for the seizure of power. Following this, inspections into Karapetyan’s business activities began, and several branches of Pizza Tashir LLC in Yerevan and other regions of the country were closed. In addition, the Armenian authorities have initiated the process of nationalizing the Electric Networks of Armenia JSC, owned by Karapetyan.
