Russia's role in development of Syrian economy was discussed

The two countries exchanged views on ways of Russia's participation in the reconstruction of the Syrian economy, APA reports.

At a meeting held in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Syrian counterpart Asad al-Sheibani discussed the development of relations between the two countries.

At a press conference held after the meeting, the parties expressed their support for the development of relations between the two countries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he was against Syria becoming a platform for geopolitical conflicts and expressed his country's support for the efforts of the Syrian president to resolve the problems.

Lavrov said that elections should be held in Syria and that this would contribute to the unity of the country's population.

Touching on the recent internal conflicts, Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al-Sheibani stressed that Syria will not allow the country's minorities to be used by Israel to divide the country.
