"I don't know what Israel's ultimate goal is in the Gaza Strip," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in response to a question from a Turkish journalist about Israel's actions in the Middle East during a year-end press conference, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, Russia has condemned Israel for its actions in the Gaza Strip.
"We have always believed that the resolution of the Palestinian issue lies in solving the problem of creating two states," Putin noted.
The Russian President stated that Israel is the main beneficiary of events in Syria. "Russia condemns Israel's control over Syrian territory. We hope that Israel will eventually withdraw from Syria. However, Israel is deploying additional troops in Syria. I get the impression that Israel is not getting ready to leave Syria but is preparing to stay there permanently."
