"I didn't even know Durov was in Baku. Why should I have met him in Baku?!," the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said during a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum's plenary session in Vladivostok, APA's Russian bureau reports.

Putin emphasized that he did not meet with Pavel Durov in Baku. He noted that he had met the Telegram CEO many years ago in Moscow, at the Kremlin.

"Since then, we haven't seen each other or stayed in contact. Why should I meet with him? I didn’t even know he was in Baku. If he wanted to meet with me, we could have met in Moscow," the Russian President emphasized.

Putin stated that the Russian authorities have no complaints against Pavel Durov.

"I thought he was living in Moscow. I don’t know if he moved somewhere. These are people of the world, billionaires, they can travel anywhere. We had no complaints regarding him. I know there were complaints from many countries. I think the Russian government might also have some questions in this regard, but all platforms of this type are "guilty" of things similar to Telegram."

Putin called France's decision to arrest Durov selective and incomprehensible.
