The State Duma has adopted a draft law on foreigners who fought for Russia in the first reading, APA reports, citing Kommersant.
According to the draft, it is prohibited to deport or administratively expel foreign citizens who participated in military operations on behalf of the Russian Armed Forces or the Russian side.
The draft law also states that it is inadmissible to extradite such persons to other states for the purpose of criminal prosecution. That is, an extradition ban will be applied to foreigners who fought for Russia.
The authors of the initiative state that this step is aimed at protecting the legal status of foreign citizens who fought for Russia and ensuring their safety.
