On June 23, 2023, the Investigative Department of the Russian Federal Security Service initiated a criminal investigation against Yevgeny Prigozhin under Article 279 of the Russian Federation's Criminal Code (the fact of planning an armed insurrection), the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation announced, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
It was underlined that Prigozhin's activities will be legally evaluated.
"This type of crime is punished by imprisonment for 12 to 20 years," the General Prosecutor's Office said.
