The Polish ambassador has been summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing the Russian MFA.
Ambassador Krayevskiy was informed of Russia’s strong protest over the arrest of Russian archaeologist Butyagin in Warsaw in December 2025 at Kyiv’s request.
The Polish ambassador was presented with facts showing that the world-renowned Russian archaeologist, an employee of the State Hermitage Museum, has been conducting research on the Kerch Peninsula for several decades.
“The Russian Federation demands the immediate release of its citizen and that he not be handed over to Ukraine,” the Russian MFA stated.
