Russia continues to work with Armenia as before, fulfilling all its obligations regarding the South Caucasus Railway, Russian Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin said, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the Armenian side regularly makes statements regarding the issue.
“We are working with Armenia as usual and fulfilling all our obligations.”
The Russian minister added that Yerevan has not yet officially withdrawn from anything.
“They continue to make statements, but there has been no withdrawal — we are working as usual.”
It should be noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia is asking Russia to sell the railway management concession, which is held by a subsidiary of Russian Railways, to a third country. Armenia’s railways were transferred to Moscow in 2008 under a 30-year agreement.
According to the Armenian Prime Minister, the sale is necessary to prevent Yerevan from missing a historic opportunity to integrate into the international railway network.
