Russian MFA: Moscow is categorically against deployment of Western peacekeepers in Ukraine

Moscow strongly opposes the deployment of Western "peacekeepers" in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, APA reports.

According to her, such a step is fraught with a direct military clash between Russia and NATO.

"London and Paris continue to implement plans for military intervention in Ukraine. All this is disguised as a kind of peacekeeping mission. The deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping operation could result in a direct clash with Russia. Moscow is categorically against such a scenario," - she said.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the desire of European politicians to deploy a military contingent in Ukraine would actually mean a direct clash between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance.
