Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Readiness Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, has been killed in a car explosion in Moscow, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed the information.
According to the statement, an explosive device placed under a vehicle detonated on Yasenevaya Street in Moscow on the morning of December 22. As a result of the explosion, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov died from his injuries.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident.
The Investigative Committee stated that several versions are being considered in the murder investigation, one of which is that the crime was organized by Ukrainian special services.

The car sustained serious damage, and Sarvarov was pulled out of the vehicle. He suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and fractures and was hospitalized in serious condition.
According to preliminary information, an improvised explosive device was placed under the driver’s seat.
Law enforcement officers are investigating the causes of the incident.

A car explosion has occurred in Moscow, seriously injuring the driver, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
The incident took place in the Orexovo-Borisovo district in the south of Moscow.
At around 7 a.m., an explosion occurred after a 56-year-old man got into his car. As a result, the man was seriously injured.
Seven other vehicles were damaged during the explosion.
The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the incident, and an investigation is underway.
Official authorities have not clarified the cause of the explosion. The Telegram channel “SHOT” reported that an explosive device had been placed under the car and that the explosion occurred a few seconds after the vehicle began moving.
