The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed doubts about the charter and mandate of the "Board of Peace", established on the initiative of the United States, APA reports.

It raises questions about coexistence with the United Nations (UN) and the UN Security Council (UNSC), said Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The charter of the Board of Peace defines it as a new international structure designed to replace "mechanisms that have too often proved ineffective.".. This approach raises questions about how the "Board of Peace" will coexist with the UN and its Security Council, which is the only universally recognized body for maintaining international peace and security," the diplomat explained in an interview with TASS.

He stressed that the organization's mandate is to promote "long-term peace" in regions where there are any conflicts or threats of their occurrence, while the Gaza Strip is not mentioned in the document even once. According to Logvinov, the organization was conceived as a tool for external management and control over the Gaza Strip.

The diplomat added that representatives of the Russian Federation did not participate in the meeting of the "Board of Peace" in Washington on February 19 and did not attend the inauguration on January 22, although they received invitations. In addition, a number of Russia's BRICS partners did not participate in these events, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was not even invited.
