Russian Foreign Ministry: All structures of the OSCE Minsk Group must be dissolved

The OSCE Minsk Group has lost its relevance, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said during today’s briefing, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

According to her, the American and French co-chairs of the Minsk Group have ceased contact with the Russian co-chair since February 2022. “They did so on their own initiative. Moreover, the recognition of Garabagh as an integral part of Azerbaijan by Armenia, following the summit held on October 6, 2022, in Prague with Azerbaijan, Armenia, France, and the European Union, and the significant changes on the ground in September 2023, resulted in the Minsk Group’s mandate losing its relevance.”

Zakharova noted that this process began with the West blocking the Minsk Group format: “Later, changes in reality followed. Therefore, all structures of the Minsk Group, including the Minsk Group itself, the High-Level Planning Group, and the OSCE Chairperson’s Personal Representative on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, should be dissolved. We believe the optimal solution for adopting the relevant decision would be for Baku and Yerevan to jointly propose the dissolution of these institutions.”
