Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a visit to Istanbul on October 17, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said this at a briefing held today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to her, the purpose of Lavrov's visit to Türkiye is to participate in the meeting of the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Platform to be held in Istanbul.
Zakharova noted that her country views the 3+3 regional cooperation format as an effective mechanism for coordinating efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and the Middle East, as well as opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade-economic, transport-logistics, cultural-humanitarian fields.
The spokesman of the Russian MFA also said that Lavrov's bilateral meetings were also planned within the framework of the mentioned event in Istanbul.
