The cause of the current turmoil in the world is the West’s actions, no one is immune from its geopolitical intrigues and new crises in 2024, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told TASS in an exclusive interview, APA reports.

"The world continues to be in the epicenter of a storm, and one of the reasons for this is that the West’s ruling circles provoke crises thousands of kilometers from their borders in order to solve their own problems at the expense of other nations," the top diplomat said when asked about the risks of escalation in different regions of the world in 2024. "We can say that as the West clings to an elusive dominance, no one is safe from its geopolitical intrigues. And this understanding is growing in the world," Lavrov said.

The top diplomat pointed out that Russia's partners in the international arena are aware of this situation, and most of them are in solidarity with Moscow that sooner or later the West "will have to accept the realities of a multipolar world, and then all issues will be resolved on the basis of a balance of interests". "Until then, however, the development of the crises will, by all appearances, continue," the foreign minister pointed out.

As examples of Western aggression, he listed the bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO forces, the invasion of Iraq "under the false pretext that there were weapons of mass destruction," the collapse of Libyan statehood, and the intervention in Syria. "The unleashing of an armed conflict in Eastern Europe through the expansion of NATO and the transformation of Ukraine into an anti-Russian bridgehead are also on this list. The most recent is the escalation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. There are conflicts in other regions as well," the minister continued.

In particular, he recalled the crises in the countries of Africa, Afghanistan and the Korean peninsula. "The Americans are openly encouraging separatist tendencies in Taiwan, despite repeated warnings from Beijing that this runs counter to China's interests," the top Russian diplomat concluded.
