Armenia's accession to the European Union (EU) will close the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market for it, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, this is well understood in Yerevan.
"Those who claim that some kind of solution will be found are, to put it mildly, misleading the Armenian people. The solution here is quite clear: opening markets with the European Union means closing markets with the Eurasian Economic Union. It is obvious that zeroing import customs tariffs with the EU will automatically mean a return to customs tariffs with the EAEU. No one should have any illusions about this," the Russian Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
He added that Armenia plays an active role in the EAEU and behaves constructively, and this issue will not be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty.
