Russian border guards have left the Nerkin Hand area on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Syunik Governor Robert Gukasyan told journalists, APA reports.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Russian border guards do not have a mandate to be in the village of Nerkin Hand.
Note that on February 12, 2024, a sniper of the Armenian army fired at the positions of the Azerbaijan State Border Service in the direction of Zangilan from a position near the village of Nerkin Hand.
The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, noted that the Russian border guards did not let the representatives of the EU observation mission into Nerkin Hand village.
It should be recalled that an agreement was reached in this regard at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow on May 9. According to the agreement, Russian military personnel must leave their positions based on a verbal agreement after the 44-day war.
