Russia will not finance Armenia's preparations for membership in the European Union, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during his speech at the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg, APA reports.
“Russia will not want to finance EU membership or preparations for membership through Armenia's use of the major privileges it enjoys in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU),” Lavrov stated.
The Russian Foreign Minister also commented on the Armenian government's policy regarding EU membership.
“If we talk about the efforts of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government toward the European Union, I am sure that EU officials can and will deceive them. I cannot imagine how Armenia could become a member of the EU. Meanwhile, Türkiye or, for example, Serbia have already been waiting in line for several decades,” Lavrov noted.
