Russia to respond proportionately to EU sanctions against its diplomats — Foreign Ministry

Moscow will take proportional retaliatory measures if the European Union (EU) imposes restrictions on Russian diplomats, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing, APA reports citing TASS.

"The Western media have started discussing the so-called leaked information about several EU countries' desire to include restrictions on Russian diplomats' freedom of movement and duration of stay in the next package of EU anti-Russian sanctions. <...> Frankly speaking, we do not doubt the reliability of this information set out in the relevant publications and take it seriously," the diplomat emphasized.

"We guarantee that if the mentioned detrimental restrictions [on Russian diplomats] are implemented, our response will not be long in coming. Russia will impose reciprocal restrictions on diplomats of EU states," Zakharova stressed.
