Russia has successfully tested the heavy intercontinental ballistic missile “Sarmat,” Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces Karakayev stated during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the tests confirmed the intended characteristics of the “Sarmat.”
Karakayev said that the “Sarmat” surpasses its predecessor, the “Voevoda” missile system, in key features such as range, throw weight, and missile defense penetration capability.
The Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces informed Putin that the first missile regiment equipped with “Sarmat” systems will begin combat duty in the Uzhur formation by the end of the year.
