Russia says West froze $590 billion in assets belonging to several countries

Western countries have frozen approximately $590 billion in assets belonging to Russia and a number of other regions, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the Security Council secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

According to him, these funds belong to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Libya, and Afghanistan.

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council also provided information on the course of the war in Ukraine. It was stated that since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have taken control of more than 1,800 square kilometers of territory and over 80 settlements.

He said that the Luhansk region has been fully captured, while about 15% of the territory of the Donetsk region still remains under Ukraine’s control.
