Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported that it thwarted a planned act of sabotage against a gas distribution system in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, APA reports, citing TASS.
During the operation, it was established that a resident of the city of Nalchik was planning to blow up part of the gas infrastructure.
The suspect reportedly offered armed resistance during detention and was killed by return fire.
According to the FSB, an improvised explosive device with an equivalent of about five kilograms of TNT, as well as weapons and ammunition of Ukrainian origin, were found in his possession.
